Another Fan
I love e-mails like this one from one of God's little helpers--good ol' michael@archangel.zzn.com--surfing porn for God.
"Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved."
What's this book of life anyway? Can someone please fill me in.
And hey Michael, keep your scary ghost stories to yourself!
A Peep Apart
Band of Outsiders
The righteous cry out
that beauty cannot exist
where the ruined souls of men walk.
They malign such places,
claiming they fuel the derelict imagination
and poison the faithful heart.
But I've seen beauty here
--more beauty than I've seen at church,
or on t.v.,
or in suburbia dawning spring.
I've seen it
in the eyes of the old man,
fending death
and heard it in the lonely
desperate to connect.
I felt it today
when the latino clerk
strode in with his guitar.
The girls smiled
and gathered 'round
as he lit up the strings
-- Nortena style.
Then the room faded
to black and white
as three girls' dances took to flight
--like a Spanish band of outsiders.

Art by Jason D'Aquino

I saw this artist's work at the Roq la Rue some time ago and was totally blown away by the scale and detail of his pieces, which is hard to fully appreciate from these pictures. I REALLY wanted to buy one of the matchbooks, but decided to pay rent instead--a temporary lapse of good judgment, which I totally regret. I especially love the matchbook above, which reminds me of Bukowski. Yeah . . . beautiful, beautiful.
A Seattle peep-show girl shares stories of her customers and adventures stemming from her bare-it-all behavior.
